Lithograph “Purple Sandpipers in Iceland” signed by Dominique COSANDEY 2000 and numbered 10/37 in pencil at the bottom, with a dry stamp reading “Atelier l’Epervière
Dominique COSANDEY”.
Born in Gruyère in 1953, he completed an apprenticeship as a decorator after attending school in Bulle, in the canton of Fribourg. Today, he draws and engraves his lithographic stones in his studio situated in the Pre-Alps of his native Gruyère. He prints his lithographs in the traditional manner: one by one, sheet by sheet, on century-old presses. Passionate about nature since childhood, he spends many hours observing it. On the lookout for wildlife, he seeks out its tracks and contemplates its beauty, sketching and describing it in his naturalist’s notebooks. His quest for inspiration has taken him across Gruyère and the Pays d’Enhaut, as well as to Corsica, Lapland, Svalbard and Iceland.
