19" Bantam Midget Spindizzy miniature car, made of wood and aluminium
. The 1930s saw the heyday of hand-built racing cars. Known as ‘spindizzies’ or ‘circular cars’. These miniature racing cars, built by enthusiasts, would race round wooden tracks at speeds of nearly 240 kilometres per hour. Resembling real racing cars of the era, several spindizzies would race against one another, tethered by cables to a central pole. Fitted with genuine model aircraft engines, the spindizzies raced against the clock. Incredibly detailed and aerodynamic, these miniature racing cars were far more than mere toys. They were works of art representing the finest pioneering technology of the era. Built using original plans from our Midget Bantam model, our spindizzy resembles the original down to the very last detail. One glance and you’ll be ready to join the competition.
