Carved
wooden Hawker Hurricane The Hawker Hurricane was a Royal Air Force fighter aircraft. It was deployed during the Second World War and distinguished itself particularly during the Battle of Britain. The aircraft was designed by Sydney Camm, an engineer employed by Hawker Aircraft. The aircraft was capable of carrying four 0.303-inch calibre machine guns in both wings. The Hurricane was used by a large number of other countries. Even before the Second World War, 20 aircraft were delivered to Belgium. In late 1941, 24 Hurricanes were delivered to the Royal Dutch East Indies Army Air Force. Other operators included Finland, Romania, Greece and the Soviet Union. In total, around 4,000 Hawker Hurricanes served with other air forces.
